Today we met at Regents College at around 9am. We then left for Windsor, England! :D

While in Windsor, we visited the Windsor Castle. During our visit at this beautiful castle, I learned that:

~Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world.

~Over a period of nearly 1,000 years it has been inhabited continuously, and altered and refurbished by successive monarchs. Some were great builders, strengthening the Castle against uprising and rebellion; others, living in more peaceful times, created a palatial Royal residence.

~William the Conqueror chose the site, high above the river Thames and on the edge of a Saxon hunting ground. It was a day's march from the Tower of London and intended to guard the western approaches to the capital.
~The outer walls of today's structure are in the same position as those of the original castle built by William the Conqueror in the 1070s. So too is the central mound supporting the Round Tower and the Upper Ward, where successive monarchs have had their private apartments since the fourteenth century.

Before going inside of Windsor Castle, we experienced the beginnings of the famous "Changing of the Guards". This is a really delightful treat for those who see it because many do not get the opportunity to see this special event taking place but we did. Later on, there is a video clip that entails the actual "Changing of the Guards taking place.

These two video clips, prevail the beginnings of the changing of the guards.

Watch and be amazed by the delightful spectacle, that is, "The Changing of the Guards".

After, we got the chance to go and explore the castle, its buildings, gardens, and landscapes. :)

Someone almost got run over (literally) by these guards because they DO NOT stop for anyone and will (if necessary) push you out of the way. They take their job very seriously for protection of what is necessary and one must understand that.

Outside Windsor Castle, is the statue of Queen Victoria, who ruled from 1819-1901. She was the longest reigning British monarch and a figurehead of a vast empire. She also oversaw huge changes in British society, which gave her name to an age, (Victorian Era).

After Windsor Castle, we then had "Tea" at a beautifully, luxurious hotel/restaurant, to end the day with full bellies and wonderfully, cheerful hearts! :D

Thanks for checking back! :D
We are at our last day(s) here in the United Kingdom and we were very happy to share our experiences with you!
Please continuing viewing as we have more posts to come as we travel back to the United States!
